Designing Contemporary Museum Exhibitions for Underwater Cultural Heritage

As part of the initiatives of the Bulgarian BCTHub, we are pleased to announce the three-day Idea Workshop “Designing Contemporary Museum Exhibitions for Underwater Cultural Heritage”. Organized by the Balkan Heritage Foundation, the program will feature a rich blend of lectures, hands-on sessions, and collaborative group work.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn from Dr. Vesela Gercheva, experts from the Center for Underwater Archaeology, as well as partners from the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies and the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage (SCH), Malta.
Location: National Archaeological Reserve Deultum – Debelt, Bulgaria,
From 13 to 15 November 2025.
The workshop is aimed at museum professionals, heritage experts, museum educators, and students with relevant academic backgrounds who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills in developing innovative, engaging, and sustainable exhibitions related to underwater cultural heritage (UCH).
Participants can expect:
- Inspiring examples and successful practices in presenting underwater heritage;
- Hands-on exercises for developing exhibition ideas and prototypes;
- Opportunities for building new partnerships and professional networks;
- Ready-to-apply exhibition concepts for their institutions.
Participation in the training is free of charge, with accommodation and meals provided at the facilities of the National Archaeological Reserve Deultum – Debelt.
