General Information
Surface Supplied Diver Training at Bulgarian BCT Hub is an intensive full-time programme designed to prepare candidates for Inshore/Inland diving – construction, inspection and shipping diving projects. The training will follow the IDSA (International Diving School Association) standards.
The mandatory training content is built on our own extensive experience in the field.
Practical tasks will be undertaken by all candidates, including inspection, construction and shipping work, report writing, project planning and risk assessment.
Training Aims
To train existing Professional SCUBA divers to undertake Inshore Construction, Inspection and Shipping diving projects, as well as prepare candidates for Surface Supplied Diver Assessment & Certification.
- Safe use of Surface Supplied Diving Systems – both underwater and on the surface
- Emergency procedures
- Diving physics and physiology
- Decompression Theory (including Surface Decompression Procedures)
- Underwater Practical Operations, including mid water work
- Use of air bags, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, air lifts and air lances
- Underwater burning utilising Oxy Arc (Broco) cutting equipment (This module can only be passed theoretically as an introduction to the technology could be risky for divers with relatively little technical experience.)
- Basic surface and underwater rigging
- Procedures for assisting a distressed diver
- Kirby Morgan Helmet Maintenance
Programme Content
1/ Differences between SCUBA and COMMERCIAL DIVING / Full face mask, Band mask – soft diving helmet, Rigid diving helmet/
2/ Introduction to technical equipment and diving organization / Different roles within the dive team, Different roles within the dive team, Diving reports and commands, Best diving practices during underwater operations, Overview of diving equipment: compressor, umbilical, diving helmet, and control panel, Pre and post dive checks
3/ Diving exercises with various types of equipment focusing on rescue procedures / Emergency procedures, Safe use of a variety of surface supplied diving systems, Commands issued by the diving supervisor, Actions and reports by the working diver, Actions and reports by the standby diver during rescue, Procedures for the safe evacuation of an injured diver.
4/ Safe use of an extensive array of surface and underwater tools /Underwater burning utilising Oxy Arc (Broco) cutting equipment, Tasks and tools associate with mid water shipping work, Underwater basic inspection techniques, Basic rigging
5/ Diving from a deck of a dive boat and diving from a pier; Additional seamanship and deck work; Recompression Chamber Operation; In water and Surface decompression procedures
The training will help divers when enrolling in professional diver courses or competence recognition programs, as the gained knowledge and skills are aligned with international standards for underwater safety and operations.
Immediately after training completion there will be an optional paid Surface Supplied Diver Assessment of diving skills (30m) & Certification by IDSA Standards at the same place –Sozopol, Bulgaria (additional information will be provided to interested candidates).
